Voices to be Heard Among Brazilian Streets
Brazil has been the stage of numerous protests coming from a dissatisfied population. The demonstrations that have been occurring are the reflection of a revolt against a government that, -according to the population- receives no return for taxes paid. The spark that ignited the desire to go to the streets was lighted when bus fares increased by twenty cents. However, this feeling is not caused solely by bad contentment of citizens in relation to public transport, but by the accumulation of numerous injustices that have occurred over many years.
These unfairness include aspects such as corruption coming from politics, a despicable health and education system and abusive taxes. People contest why our stadiums are so admirable, while there is citizens starving,living on streets with no education. They contest on how politicians continue to stole billions of reais every single year, and no punishment is applied to them. They contest for their rights.
It appears that the population finally woke up, and claims for these rights strongly. Citizens were silent for so long that now there is a lot to contest, so this movements will definitely have a change. However, it is hard to change this reality due to the fact that powerful politics and companies manipulate the system that the country is in.
Despite that, the population is extremely strong when united, and those issues that were criticized definitelty became focus on politics. Therefore, it is important that the population doesn`t get pleased with little, and that the protest continue until the goals are achieved. It is now time that political promises don`t turn utopist and that this "bread and circus" status finally ends.
